Contract screenshotThe other day a friend asked if I know of a site where he could download and access legal contract documents. He needed one specifically for a business partnership agreement.

I told him to Google for the search terms “business partnership agreement template” and he should be able to view a few samples. The problem with these samples, how would he know which portion to modify. After all, we’re not lawyers! I got to admit that I have difficulty most times understanding the content of a contract document. Reading just the first paragraph makes me sleepy.

The other option that I gave him was to engage a lawyer to get the contract done. This method would require some cost. These days, people really would like to save as much they can.

If only there’s a site which provides free legal contracts templates and at the same time provide guidance on which part of the contract to edit and amend.

I stumbled on one such site yesterday and it’s called WhichDraft.com

WhichDraft.com is a site which allows you to automatically create free legal documents. The best part about this site is its question and answer wizard which guides you through the creation of the legal document.

These are some categories of contracts available within WhichDraft:

  • Confidentiality Agreements
  • Limited Liability Company Agreements
  • Maintenance Agreements
  • Purchase Agreements
  • Sales Agreements
  • Statements of Work

I tried WhichDraft by trying out the Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

The first step is to enter details of both parties entering into the contract.

NDA-step1

The second step is to enter details related to the NDA. It will be in the form of questions where you’ll just need to answer it on the left box for it to be automatically filled into the NDA.

NDA-step2

Once done, you can preview or print out the document. It’s also possible to download the agreement in Word format for further editing.

By becoming a registered user of WhichDraft, you can also share the contract with another person for discussion and amendment purposes.

At the moment, WhichDraft.com offer the contracts free of charge but in the future they might start to charge for it or even throw in some ads.

If you’re trying to create some legal contracts, do remember to check out WhichDraft.com.
